“And at that moment, I knew...”
What’s with these films and yearning? So much of it throughout the whole story only to be left hanging and wishing for a different conclusion. Just like the characters in it, it leads you to believe things are not what they seem; it creates a story that slowly evolves into something more meaningful than it set out to be, while accurately portraying what it’s like to be a teenager in some ways.
The animation itself did feel a little off, but nothing that couldn’t be overlooked. -

Chinese animation can be strange, or maybe the right word is unnatural, in intervals. Regardless of the specific interpretations, their attention to movement is rough, so much so that otherwise passable production qualities pale in comparison. It's not a matter of resembling realism, but the frame-by-frame continuity needs a purpose, something that's missing in Zuori Qing Kong. The motion of a character's upper body alongside their expressions is imperative in relaxed atmospheres, and hyperactive blinking on lifeless faces doesn't quite sell the scenario. Despite these jarring displays, the film has an aesthetic, a sense of visual direction hoisting up the weaker components. It's usually confined to scattered metaphorical sequences of either imagination or inspiration, but the art distinguishes itself like…

Did I randomly watch this because I felt like moping about how Wang Yibo should have done his own dubbing for The Untamed? Yeah. But alas, we live in a world where he passed that on and we can only have the behind the scenes footage that shows how his original voice would be better suited for Lan Wangji 😂 sorry to all the Bian Jiang fans

China: "what if we did both lol"Crystal Sky of Yesterday is a run of the mill East Asian youth movie. That also means some catchy songs and of course a Zhou Shen ost. Debating between 2.5 stars and 3 stars but because the run time was short and it was easy to watch I'll just put 3 because 2.5 seems harsh.
