Sins of Our Mother: Season 1 | Rotten Tomatoes (1) Richard Roeper Chicago Sun-Times It's a grisly, horrifying, chilling story with a long, complex and at times insane buildup. Rated: 3.5/4 Sep 16, 2022 Full Review Sins of Our Mother: Season 1 | Rotten Tomatoes (2) Bill Goodykoontz Arizona Republic True crime is predicated on knowing what happened; the journey of how we get there is the draw. And in this case, the journey is complex and full of twists. Sep 16, 2022 Full Review Sins of Our Mother: Season 1 | Rotten Tomatoes (3) Rebecca Nicholson Guardian Sins of Our Mother is about as Netflix True Crime as it gets. Rated: 3/5 Sep 15, 2022 Full Review Sins of Our Mother: Season 1 | Rotten Tomatoes (4) Archi Sengupta LeisureByte.com Sins of Our Mother is a chilling watch surrounding the antics of an absolute monster of a parent. Rated: 4/5 Jul 9, 2024 Full Review Sins of Our Mother: Season 1 | Rotten Tomatoes (5) Alison Lanier Pajiba Sins of Our Mother is good true crime, with heartfelt and viciously direct storytelling. But for all its directness, it cannot cut through the fundamental mystery of how a mind breaks so thoroughly that a person can’t see the blood on their own hands. Sep 20, 2022 Full Review Sins of Our Mother: Season 1 | Rotten Tomatoes (6) Joel Keller Decider With a compact and straightforward storytelling style, Borgman manages to make Sins Of Our Mother about as harrowing a journey into the dissolution of one person’s psyche as you can get. Chadd J So scary when you hear how a man can poison someone's mind into killing her own kids! Rated 4/5 Stars • Rated 4 out of 5 stars 08/10/24 Full Review J M Simply put, this is the best true crime documentary since DON'T F*** WITH CATS and possibly the best thing I've seen so far this year. Director Skye Borgman also made ABDUCTED IN PLAIN SIGHT, GIRL IN THE PICTURE and DEAD SLEEP. She is obviously at the top for her game right now and arguably the best director of this genre currently working. Often times these limited series tend to wear out their welcome, particularly when they're 8-10 episodes long. At only 3 episodes, this is one of those rare examples of wishing it would have been longer - I didn't want it to end. And that's the biggest compliment I can pay it. It is riveting and spellbinding but never seems to wallow in depravity or exploitation. I was not familiar with this case, even though it's relatively recent and still ongoing, so the details surrounding this strange case were fascinating for me. And it just kept getting better and better, more mysterious and stranger with each passing moment. I was quite taken with Cody Ryan, the eldest son whose interviews make up a bulk of the movie and found him to be quite empathetic and relatable. I was therefore quite saddened to find out afterwards that he and his wife have separated, and she accused him of sexual assault. These allegations are too recent to be included in the documentary but knowing that makes it all even more shattering. I would love to go into more particulars, but I don't want to spoil anything for those like me who were unfamiliar with the case. Suffice it to say, three hours have never passed more quickly, and I can easily see this joining my list of best documentaries of all time. No exaggeration - I've been pretty much constantly thinking about it since I watched it. - Jeff Marshall, Movie Blogger (Facebook) Rated 5/5 Stars • Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/23/24 Full Review K F Unwatchable. Reading other people's text messages is as satisfying as listening to someone tel you about a dream they had. 1/4 of this series are text messages you are supposed to read. If I wanted to read and not watch, I would buy the book. The story is told through Sam talking about Jack who tells you he went to meet Jill so she can tell him what Marci said about Rob... Not an interesting a story enough to map out who is who and why in each scene. Rated 1/5 Stars • Rated 1 out of 5 stars 01/09/24 Full Review farah r A fascinating and well-crafted documentary. Rated 3.5/5 Stars • Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Jason P Great series but I'm gonna say what I got to lori was a weirdo, everyone made exscuses for her and her actions and mental health is a real thing, she was looking for god in a man plain and simple, she used her family and told them things to make it look like she was breaking up with the men to keep it from looking like she's a slut Rated 5/5 Stars • Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/05/22 Full Review Mike K Shocking.....upsetting....heartbreaking......just unbelievable how evil some people can be. Had no idea what this was about going into it. Watched all 3 episodes in one sitting. Very upsetting....tragic. Really, really, really sad and feel bad for those left behind to pick up all the pieces. Very, very sad. Rated 5/5 Stars • Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/01/22 Full Review Read all reviews
